We've just about given up making the two octave version as most people want the 2 1/2 octave model to give extra versatility. This model has 32 strings and spans from c to g3 chromatically. It has a very deep body, (up to 8cms) to give volume to the bass strings. It is supplied with bow, tuning key, spare strings, rosin & instructions. This very easy instrument has a haunting ethereal sound. Our model is played by lots of professional players. What makes it better than anybody elses' models? You may ask. Well, there is one easy test. Get them to play you a really fast jig or reel on theirs. If they can't,- well,.... Most makers will say that's not what it's for. We disagree. You should be able to play at any speed on a decent psaltery.. 2 1/2 Octave

these come in many shapes & sizes. We concentrate on a trapezoid version with 3 octaves+1 and can be hammered, plucked using quills or plectra, played with the fingers like a harp and touch chorded. (Touch the strings you don't want to hear and play the others). -Sounds hard -isn't. Diatonic.

brand new and strange, a 3 octave + plucked psaltery (12thc version) that can be hammered plucked & bowed although this model is diatonic (just the white notes) it can be tuned in most keys and plays half an octave below the bow psaltery. Hawaiian set
Not very musical, and needs to be kept wet and fed with small fish, but PERFECT for throwing at hecklers.Colours may vary, but can match most tartans reasonably well if not sulking too much.
Size varies from around two inches to forty feet or more. Buyer collect.Price - depending on stock.
Scottish practice set
Exactly the same as the Hawaiin in every way but they don't need to be fed fish, the size and colours are completely different and they're made of different material.
Everything the war pipes aren't. (Good, - you may say), this quiet, utterly modern, & mostly plastic, sweet set (nearly as sweet as northumbrian), are great for playing indoors and sessions and not annoying the neighbours! Highland chanter,(flattened 7th) 2 drones plays in bb. Very easy set to learn on. Comes in own case.
Practice is most effective if ye do it atop y'r battlements by the light of a waning moon, with the mist drawing in off the loch an' the braw air keen to the back o' the neck, the wolves a'hoolin' in the far off glen an' a wee lassie warmin' y'r dram for y'r return the noo...

there are so many awful symphonies out there, we thought it was time for a good one. This model is really a hurdy gurdy in disguise. It has 4 strings, 2 chanterelles,1 bass and a trompette, 2 octaves chromatic, and has larger tuning pegs for more accurate tuning. Made in association with one of the best makers in the country our input to design and testing has been time consuming -but worth it. To deliver a wonderful little, (well no, its really rather big but to give any volume, that's what it needs to be) symphonie. When we say hand made we mean it! We can only deliver about 6 per annum - so get in early!

Fore runner of the lute. And played in britain (early med.) We are able to offer decent quality and very reasonable prices at less than 1/2 the price of a lute. These things are a work of art and the only drawback we can see are the strings,(which glow in the dark - sounds odd to me)! Anyway, learn on those strings and then swop for a decent set. 12 Strings. Choice of tunings.
