Biography-Past

Tony has been playing on stage since the age of thirteen (no, he won't say how long ago that was). Making instruments since the age of fifteen, customers have included The R.S.C., James Galway, Isaac Guillory (R.I.P) and Blinski - Now there's a selection!

Teaching music since the age of eighteen.-Even teaching Clem of the 'Moody Blues' how to read chords. He has played at many famous venues, and backed lots of nationally and internationally known artistes.

Has played with the Chieftains,The Dubliners,The Scaffold & Julie Felix to name but a few.- and there's another selection

He has appeared on T.V and radio many times. (Including 2x30 min programmes on his wedding)!

Has made tapes, CD's. Won awards for writing.

Written for Drama, and Radio,-including 'Finnegan's Wake'

Demonstrated to nearly 1 MILLION Children with his "Hands-on" workshops.

Plays over 150 instruments. Has taught over 250,000 people to play the spoons. (I'd leave that bit out)- editor.

Has an odd sense of humour.

Tony now lives in Doncaster with his wife Gini, who is a superb Flautist & singer.They play together as 'Flaunt'. -when there is time. Tony goes out to schools, museums, special interest groups & Festivals with his 'Fine Tuning' Workshops and increasingly is in demand for his 'Living History' appearances.He makes the odd instrument or two and 'odd' is usually the word.... He also helps Gini,who is an Historical costumier and supplies hand made clothing and reproduction artefacts for Museums, schools, re-enactors, T.V and film. The house always seems to be in the process of researching some odd point of history and shouts of "Anybody know the heraldic devices of the Earl of Warwick"? (Yes they did-it's a Bear &'ragged' staff)* or, " Can we get some handleable coal for Newcastle Museum"? (True - I heard it)! are common.-The answer came back -yes in 10 secs. Tony is waiting for the day they do a costume drama on radio... Tony also produces and engineers C.Ds and plays bookings with "Tables Turned" who play for ceilidhes and Barn Dances. Tony is a co-opted executive of the South Riding Folk Network, a member of Historic traders, of Music Mine and a signatory of the Music Memoranda. He also wants to set up a website noting the similarities between Saxon verse chant & party political broadcasts -He still has an odd sense of humour -but they are very similar!
